Mission Thrift Stores—a volunteer-powered, faith-driven organization with over 50 locations across Canada recently moved their head office. But with a tight budget for updates, they needed a fresh look without the hefty price tag.

Enter creativity.

With strategic design and a little paint magic, we transformed their space in simple yet impactful ways. Sometimes, it’s not about how much you spend it’s about how creatively you use what you have. And the result? A refreshed, inspiring workspace that feels brand new without breaking the bank.

OUR GOAL

Our goal for the space was to create a brighter, more inviting environment while seamlessly integrating the Mission Thrift Stores brand. By using strategic design elements and creative branding touches, we transformed the space into one that feels both fresh and distinctly their own.

Mural Installations

We wanted to honour the organization’s rich history by incorporating timelines and mural designs that tell its story in a visually engaging way. These elements not only celebrate the past but also create a meaningful connection between the space and the people who walk through it. Creative paint solutions also added interest and aided in incorporating the brand within the space.

Custom Elements

Studio Forma seamlessly integrated the beauty of the outdoors into their custom designed murals, capturing the essence of nature and bringing it indoors. Complementing this, their bespoke carpet tile design echoed the organic motifs, harmonizing the space with a cohesive and nature-inspired aesthetic.

Creative Approach

In the lunchroom, Studio Forma employed creative flooring and wall paint designs to fashion a cozy lounge area, evoking a sense of nature indoors. Custom millwork, adorned with murals echoing the outdoors, not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but also fostered collaboration among team members, creating a welcoming and conducive environment for shared ideas and innovation.

Summary

At the end of this project, we felt incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Mission Thrift Stores and gain a deeper understanding of the impact they have as a not-for-profit organization. Learning about their dedication to sustainability, community support, and giving back was truly inspiring, and we’re honoured to have played a small part in bringing their vision to life through design.
